Volunteers in Asia
       GETCH has worked together with Volunteers in Asia since 1999. This non-profit, non-religious, non-governmental organization sends volunteers to different locations in Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, with goal of promoting cross- cultural exchange, as well as helping support underserved communities in these countries. A lot of the work of the VIA volunteers goes beyond the classroom, to providing assistance in grant-writing, translation, organization of activities and service projects, and promotion of their host schools and organizations.

Foreign Consulates
       Because of its special status, GETCH has received much attention from foreign consulates in Guangzhou, including US and British Consulates.

       During January of 2007, US Public Diplomacy Envoy Michelle Kwan and Undersecretary of State Karen Hughes visited GETCH as part of a visit to Middle East and Asia. During their visit, both Kwan and Hughes spent a lot of time to talk and listen to students about their life in the school.

       The Education and Cultural Affairs Section of the British Consulate, Guangzhou has also given much support and many opportunities to GETCH students. Since Fall 2007, they have offered part-time internships to students in their offices. They also have donated many magazines, newspapers, and materials to the school and have helped to coordinate some guest lectures, such as UK storyteller.

Sun Yat-sen University, School of Foreign Languages
       From its early establishment, GETCH received much support and aid from Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), School of Foreign Languages. Many of the school’s early professors were volunteers from SYSU. Since 2000, SYSU has supported GETCH students with a scholarship fund, donations of textbooks, and other resources. Moreover, the Allshare student volunteer organization has partnered with GETCH students for several years to hold weekly English corners.
